Much of the joy this time of year can be found in our childhood memories of Christmases' of long long ago....

sledding at the hill down the street....

the snow angels you and your siblings made that ONE year it snowed SO much...

the caroling you did with your friends....(you knew ALL the words!)...

all your cousins coming over with presents GALORE...

setting out the cookies and milk for Santa and writing him a note! ...

TRYING to sleep, but you just can't...the anticipation is TOO much!

the excitement you feel when you think you HEAR reindeer land on the roof!

 THOSE kinds of memories....the ones that BRING you back to the best Christmas ever!

                                               The one that made your heart sing...

                                                     Delight in the Sweetness of Christmas

May all of our senses enjoy the sweetness of the days leading up to Christmas and on the eve and day itself!  Is there anything sweeter than the aroma of gingerbread baking in the oven and warm sugar cookies cooling on cupboards...and oh..doesn't that chocolate fudge cooking on the stovetop smell absolutely wonderful?

The gifts that arrive in the mail all the way up to the day..the ones filled with candy, popcorn and all sorts of goodies...those SURE are sweet.

There is so much goodness..

May your stocking be filled with ONLY sweet sugary delights...May your heart OVERFLOW with wonder and awe in the sweet story of the season...how a precious baby boy was born in a stable one special night.

                                                  Today's wish...the third one is for all of us to
                                                                     Give Selflessly

The best gifts we can give don't have to cost a thing.  They often come from the heart. Each of us has unique talents and have so much to offer...it's simply takes figuring out what those are. 

Giving Selfessly is sometimes harder than it sounds...for all of us.  Often, we spend way too much of our day worrying about ourselves.

At Christmas, it helps to focus on the GIVING because that's where the joy comes from.  Pleasing others.  Lifting their spirit.  Touching their soul.  To KNOW, love and appreciate someone so much that you wish to actually ALTER the way they perceive themselves and the world...that's GIVING Selflessly.

To get there, we must remember it's ALL about them.  

That is my wish today...To not worry so much about me and instead figure out how to meet others needs and wants before my own.

To Give Selflessly.

Christmas Wish #25 Mend All Broken Hearts

The second one is for all to have A Proper Nest

I, the Scrapster, am so fortunate to have a loving family and a place to call home.  Not everyone has a proper nest.  Human or not, it is truly a blessing to have a safe, warm, cozy place to lay your down your head when you go to sleep.  Each day my paw clicks on the HOME button on Facebook,  yet I find that there are hundreds and hundreds of posts about animals simply yearning for a place to call their own, a family to take them in....looking for LOVE and a proper nest.  Some are lost, many are abandoned, injured, ill and in need of a FOREVER home.

Proper Nests take a bit a work.  I make several nests each (and every) day.  Sometimes it's here in ONE of my normal beds...

I scratch a bit, dig my paws in, turn around and around and around in circles, maybe scratch alittle more...then, finally I lay down...and SIGH.

Othertimes, I find a blanket, sweatshirt or a pile of clothes that my people have left behind on the floor and I use my mouth to gather the warmth up all around me, move the pile around a bit with my paws, scratching here and there and circle and circle until I think the nesting spot is JUST right and plump down right in the middle of it.  Nesting gives me a sense of security, a comfortableness, a sort of calming.

It's a natural urge for all of us to nest.  Even people do it.  In fact, my Mom has been busy nesting this past week, getting the house JUST beautifully, perfectly adorned for the holidays.  She's especially excited this Christmas, I think because all of her children will be back in her nest this year to celebrate!  She nests and cleans and seems to NEED to have everything in its rightful place.   Dad likes to call her Princess and often tells her she has very own castle.   She likes that.  I am guessing that it prides her to have such a magical place (and soft pillow) to lay her head down every night. 

Some of us can feel especially lost THIS time of year, as the holidays are a reminder that love and time with family is a BIG part of the season.  Without a place to call our own or a family to share it with, this time of year can be especially hard to bare.

Home is where we all want to be at Christmas.  We all have a deep longing to feel secure..safe in our own little corner of the world, surrounded by those who know and love us best.

Home...in our very own Proper Nest.

  Mine. Yours. That family whose pet has been missing. The child whose life has been turned upside down for one reason or another.  The grandparent who has dementia.  That close friend that has just been diagnosed with cancer.  The parents whose child suddenly died.   A co-worker whose entire family just lost everything they own in a fire. The neighbor who is unemployed.

Each and every day... somewhere ...someone's heart is breaking for one reason or another. 

Sometimes when I am outside, I hear never ending sirens and  I think...whose lives have been changed forever on this day?!  Whose HEART is being fractured today?

I wish there was some way to ease that pain and take away that sorrow...that lump that we ALL get in our throat in the moment JUST before we know we are ABOUT to cry.

If I could take a heart and make it new again...without any bruises, without any stress fractures whatsoever...without any aches or pains...without the clogging and the crowding of all the excess stuff that is causing so much sadness, grief or hurt ...

I would want THAT!
